Initially “The Lived Experience” was a community project assigned as part of my thesis, entitled "Conscious Evolution through Whole Organismic Functioning" for my master’s degree in somatic psychology. Now the film and its message have grown and are evolving into a full-length documentary feature film. The film seeks to create an opening in the understanding of what it means to be fully alive through the integration of whole living-mind/body/spirit. What does it mean to live freely, sharing our truths? What if conscious evolution wasn’t about feeling better, but feeling everything? How can we avoid “bypassing” our inner world with the heightened demands of a fragile outer world, and how are these related?
This film seeks to transcend the conditioning that comes between our true nature to be present in the ‘now’, helping us find courage to take responsibility for ourselves while discovering new paths and heightened clarity as to what it means to feel truly alive and connected with all of life.
Through the use of narratives, the audience is given an intimate view of cross-cultural journeys and choices that have heightened and expanded one’s experience, facilitating an awakening in the viewer. Some themes that are interwoven in the film are: the way we raise and educate our children, our connection to earth and each other, and our own ability to rediscover our innate wisdom.
